Questions and Answers
Home of the Top to topless in 20 seconds. Craftec is the original manufacturer of removable hi quality, hatch-style Tonneau bed covers for classic and late model pickup trucks and El Caminos. Made in the U.S.A with a variety of UV resistant Vinyl choices that stretch over the top of the custom extruded 6063-T6 aluminum framework. Ultra Low profile at 3/8” above truck bed enhances the appearance of your truck.
CRAFTEC cannot guarantee our 1978-87 Chevy El Camino Tonneau cover will clear any external tie down rails that may interfere with the opening and closing of our bed cover. The widest point of the cover is halfway down the bed and measures 59 7/8”. Covers that have been assembled and trial fitted are not able to be resold and therefore nonreturnable. Full Refunds are only honored for unopened packages and subject to 20% restocking fee. Shipping is nonrefundable. Specialty cover. Requires minor drilling. Limited lifetime warranty on framework, 3 years warranty on shocks and vinyl.
There are cloth pull straps attached to the cover’s latch handles on the under side. A small amount of the strap has to hang out of the rear corners to give a tug and release the side cover handles. It’s just a very small amount of strap that is rarely noticeable from the outside.

Q:
How does Cover attach to the bed at the rear window? Do you have to drill any holes their at the rear window?
Asked by:
Tom
- 2/4/2015
A:
Yes, a small amount of drilling is necessary for the mounting of the front hinge, shock mounts and rear latches. We try to show this in the photo gallery. There are two bolts for the front hinge that go through the bed front to the cab just under the rear window. Thanks.
